One skill. Three pillars. A one-page brief.

Watch the plumbing, not the panel. Sovereign debt conditions set commercial credit roughly 90 days out. Long-end yields, auction demand and the largest foreign holder of that debt tell you where credit is going before any bank letter does.

Front-run input repricing. Energy shocks reach operating margins on a 30 to 45 day lag. Crude, diesel and chokepoint disruption lead. Freight surcharges and shelf prices follow.

Read the register when the feed gets loud. Policy reality moves in executive orders, treasury releases and central-bank calendars. The week one story owns the feed is the week to check what got published.

  1. Unzip it. On Windows, right-click the file and choose Extract All first so you get the actual folders. Double-clicking may only preview the archive.
  2. Paste it in. That is the whole thing. Open any SKILL.md, copy everything under "Instructions," and paste it into a fresh chat with your AI agent. Then tell it your sector, geography, debt maturities and fuel or freight exposure.

    Works with any assistant that reads markdown instructions, on any plan, on any platform. No account, no setup, and no length limit to run into.

  3. Optional: make it persist, so you're not pasting it in every time

    Depends on your platform and plan. Step 2 above always works if one of these doesn't fit yours.

    Claude: on claude.ai, go to Customize → Skills → "Upload a skill" and give it the signal-vs-noise.skill file from the zip. Free, on any plan. In Claude Code, drop the signal-vs-noise folder into ~/.claude/skills/; needs a paid Claude plan (Pro/Max/Team) or API billing.

    ChatGPT: on Plus or higher, build a Custom GPT (Explore GPTs → Create); everything here fits with room to spare. On the Free plan, skip Projects for this: its instructions box is small, and we can't guarantee the longer skills fit whole. Use step 2 instead.

    Gemini: Gems are free to build (desktop web only, at gemini.google.com). Google doesn't publish a length limit for them, so it's worth trying. Fall back to step 2 if a longer skill gets cut off.

    Grok: the Skills feature is new and we couldn't confirm whether it's free-tier or paid-only. Worth trying. Step 2 works the same either way if it's gated.

Nothing to sign up for. Nothing runs on our servers. Every file stays on your machine, and your material goes straight into your own AI chat.

Paste-in only. No API keys, no accounts, nothing to wire up. Ask it to "run the filter" or "signal check" and read the brief. It works best with web search on, and when it cannot verify a number it says so instead of guessing.
